Saily in Vietnam

Saily is NordVPN’s travel eSIM, it has by far the best review record in this comparison, and it will not tell you which Vietnamese network it rides.

Saily is never the cheapest and never far off it. On the fixed plans it sits within a dollar of Airalo at every size and about a dollar over GigSky. What it sells is not price, it is the confidence that if the thing does not work, somebody answers.

The support record is the actual product

We do not usually lead a review with a Trustpilot number, because most of them are noise. Here the spread is wide enough to mean something.

Holaflynot listed—No comparable public record.

Saily is owned by Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN, which is a large consumer software business with an actual support organisation rather than an eSIM reseller with a contact form. On a two-week holiday that is worth nothing until the moment the profile fails to activate at 23:00 at Tan Son Nhat, at which point it is worth all of it.

One consequence worth knowing: because Saily is a VPN company, it markets privacy features alongside the data. Those are real but they are not a Vietnam-specific advantage, and they are not why we rank it where we do.

Look at the 10GB and 20GB rows: Saily and Airalo are one cent apart. At that margin the decision is not price, it is what you get for the same money. Airalo gives you the network. Saily gives you the support record and the biggest unlimited allowance. Both are defensible; neither is a mistake.

What Saily’s "unlimited" actually gives you

5GB a day, then 1 Mbps

Saily's Vietnam unlimited plans carry a 5GB daily allowance at full speed, which is the largest published cap of any unlimited plan sold for Vietnam. Airalo's is 3GB, GigSky's is 3.5GB, and Holafly and Yesim publish nothing.

After 5GB, Saily's Vietnam page says you keep unlimited data at up to 1 Mbps, the same fallback Airalo prints. That still carries maps, messaging and standard-definition video. The cap resets at midnight local time, per Saily's terms and support center. Hotspot is allowed with no limit stated.

What you pay for the bigger cap: GigSky Unlimited is cheaper at every length ($24.49 for 7 days against $26.99, $65.99 for 30 against $71.99) with 3.5GB a day.

Buy Saily unlimited for the 5GB a day, not for the word unlimited. Treat the plan as "5GB per day, then 1 Mbps". At $71.99 for thirty days that is 150GB of guaranteed full-speed data, which is 48 cents a gigabyte and genuinely good value if you will use it. Almost nobody uses it. The unlimited page works out why a 20GB fixed plan usually wins.

Buying and activating Saily

the four-minute version

  1. Buy on the Saily website at home on wifi. Our links go to the web checkout; the app route does not credit this site and the price is the same.
  2. Install the profile before you fly. It does not start counting until it connects to a Vietnamese network.
  3. On landing: switch the Saily line on for data, home line on for calls with data roaming off.
  4. If nothing connects, set network selection to manual and try Vinaphone, then Viettel, then MobiFone. Saily does not tell you which one it expects, so this is trial and error. Full setup and fixes.

Buy it or skip it

the honest split

Buy Saily if

Support matters to you. 4.7 from 32,870 reviews, from a company with a real support organisation behind it.

You are hotspotting a laptop: tethering is allowed with no separate ceiling, unlike Holafly's 1GB a day.

You want unlimited with the biggest daily allowance: 5GB a day, then 1 Mbps, the largest published cap for Vietnam.

You are already a NordVPN customer and would rather keep one account than open another.

Skip Saily if

You want the cheapest: GigSky is about a dollar less at every size it sells, and Yesim is $2.59 less at 20GB.

You want to know your network: Airalo names VNPT for one cent more at 10GB, and Yesim lists Viettel among three.

You need more than 20GB: Saily's Vietnam ladder stops there, Airalo's goes to 50GB at $49.00.

You are crossing borders: Saily's Asia regional plan is $35.99 for 10GB, double its own Vietnam price. Buy Airalo's Asialink instead.

Questions

on Saily in Vietnam

Is Saily good for Vietnam?

Yes, with one gap. It has the best support record in the category, 4.7 from 32,870 Trustpilot reviews, allows hotspotting without a separate cap, and sits within a cent of Airalo at 10GB and 20GB. The gap is that it publishes nothing about which Vietnamese network it uses, which matters if your route leaves the coast.

Which network does Saily use in Vietnam?

Local partner networks, not disclosed by Saily: its Vietnam page, FAQ and terms name no operator, and the terms reserve Saily's right to select network operators, checked 2026. Several travel guides assert MobiFone; Saily's own materials do not say so, and we do not treat a repeated blog claim as a network agreement. If knowing matters to you, Airalo publishes VNPT and costs one cent more at 10GB.

Is Saily unlimited really unlimited in Vietnam?

No. You get 5GB per day at full speed, which is the largest published daily allowance for Vietnam, and then unlimited data at about 1 Mbps until midnight local time. That still runs maps and messaging; it will not stream HD or carry a video call well. Treat it as a 5GB-a-day plan and it is good value.

Can I hotspot with a Saily Vietnam plan?

Yes, and this is one of its genuine advantages. Tethered data draws from the same allowance with no separate hotspot ceiling. Holafly, by contrast, caps hotspot at 1GB per day regardless of the plan, which is the binding constraint for anyone travelling with a laptop.

Saily or Airalo for Vietnam?

They are a cent apart at 10GB and 20GB, so pick on what else you want. Airalo publishes its network (VNPT), sells up to 50GB, and prints both numbers on its unlimited cap. Saily has the better support record, a larger unlimited allowance and no hotspot restriction. Neither choice is wrong.

Does Saily include a VPN?

Saily is made by Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN, and markets privacy features with the eSIM. Those are real, but they are not a Vietnam-specific advantage and they are not the reason to buy it here. The support record is.
